Chief Biney’s union with Afia Akoto sparks needless controversy

The marriage between a National Deputy Youth Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Chief Hamilton Nixon Biney and a staunch member of the ruling New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) and doubles as a Deputy MASLOC Boss Afia Dokua has sparked needless political controversy on social media.

Though most members of both parties were happy over their being together regardless of political coloration , some have challenged the loyalty of the head of the house Chief Biney. They argue that it was wrong for a National Officer of the opposition party to marry a member of the opposition.

Majority have contested that marriage between two people from two different political backgrounds shouldn’t be a issue, after all they are matured and know what’s at stake.

In any case the question has been asked, should political affiliation affect who we decide to marry, friend or move with?

Chief and Afia had been together for quite a long time and officialising their marriage shouldn’t have been an issue at all but as usual the political extremists were at it and trying to make a mountain out of a molehill.

“It was shameful to hear Steven Atubiga calling on Chief to resign his position as a deputy National Organizer of our great party because he married his soul mate? Hell no,” friend of Chief said.

The duo albeit got married successfully yesterday at a colorful traditional ceremony.

The holy event brought together party members from both political parties including General Secretary of the Party Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Organisers of both NDC and NPP Joshua Akamba and Sammi Awuku respectively, Minister of Communication Ursula Owusu among many others.

“They are matured and know what’s good for them. Politics shouldn’t divide us, it shouldn’t divide our children nor affect our friendship, we are one people. I am NPP and am happy for them. God will bless them and use them to change the thinking of many extremists,” a friend of Dokua said.

“Like the Bible has admonished “what God has put together let no man put assunder. Let’s stop the negativity and allow nature take its cause, Kwame observed.”

Most people on social media were of the view that Politics shouldn’t determine who to marry because true love doesn’t know NPP and NDC.
